Bringing out the best in people and develop the full potential in a person, we must motivate them to move away from mediocrity to first class performance. Motivation is the most powerful means that is by timely recognizing one’s ability through praise.
Praise is due immediately you recognize a good piece of work is done. The idea is to reinforce good behaviour and performance with immediate praise. A praise may sound like this; “That’s a terrific job you have done. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Sincere praise given at the right time gives tremendous morale boaster to the receiver and it stimulate him to strive to excel the next time round.
Dorothy Nolte once said, “If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate.” On the contra, William Blake said, “A truth that is told with bad intent, beats all the lies you can invent.”
“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of being.” Johann W. Von Goethe.
